Question:
In the third rakʻah of ʻIsha Salah I recited Surah Fatihah aloud forgetfully. Then I performed Sajdah of Sahw in the final sitting. Has my Salah been valid?
Answer:
الجواب باسم ملهم الصواب
- It is Waajib (necessary) to perform the recitation of the Holy Qur’an in the third and fourth rakaʻat of ʻIsha Salah quietly and inaudibly.
- As this is a Waajib act of Salah, if a person contravenes this, he must perform Sajdah of Sahw in the final sitting. Otherwise, Salah will not be valid.
- As you have performed Sajdah of Sahw, your Salah has been performed correctly.

قال في البحر الرائق: قوله: (والجهر والإسرار فيمايجهر ويسر)… فالحاصل أن الإخفاء في صلاة المخافتة واجب على المصلي إماما كان أو منفردا، وهي صلاة الظهر والعصر والركعة الثالثة من المغرب والأخريان من صلاة العشاء وصلاة الكسوف والاستسقاء، وهو واجب على الإمام اتفاقا وعلى منفرد على الأصح، وأما الجهر في الصلاة الجهرية فواجب على الإمام فقط، وهو أفضل في حق المنفرد وهي صلاة الصبح والركعتان الأوليان من المغرب والعشاء وصلاة العيدين والتراويح والوتر في رمضان (راجع: ج 1، ص 527، دار الكتب العلمية)
