Forgetting to Recite (الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْم) in the Adhan of Fajr Salah

Question:

If a muazzin forgets to recite (الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْم) from the Adhan of Fajr, what should he do?

Answer:

الجواب باسم ملهم الصواب

• It is mustahab to recite (الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْم) in the Adhan of Fajr, not Sunnah Muakkadah.
• Therefore, if a muazzin forgets to recite it in its prescribed time, there are two possibilities:
  • If he remembers it immediately after completing the Adhan, he should repeat only from (الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْم) till the end.
  • If he remembers long after calling out the Adhan, it is not necessary to repeat.
