All praise be to Allah and salutations are due to His noble messenger.<\/p>\n

All Muslims should know that:<\/p>\n

(1) In England (likewise in every other country where restrictions have been put in place regarding religious, social and other gatherings), Friday prayer is not permissible to be performed whether it be in a house, hospital, office, open field or masjid etc. Rather, it is obligatory upon every Muslim to perform Dhuhr Salah on Friday. Because, for Jumuah Salah to be valid, according to Hanafi School, it is essential to have \u201cIdhn Aamm\u201d (open permission for the public to attend). Even a Muslim ruler is not permitted to perform Jumuah prayer, after having locked the place of worship, with his close associates.<\/p>\n

The well known authoritative scholar, the author of Fathul-Qadeer, writes:<\/p>\n

\u2018Idhn Aamm: that is to grant general permission to the public, by not preventing anybody, who is eligible to perform Jumuah, from entering the place of worship. And this is the intention of those who interpreted Idhn Aamm as \u201cpublic announcement\u201d.\u2019 (Ad-Durrul-Mukhtar & Radd-Al-Mutaar: 2\/600-1)<\/p>\n

(2) The invalidity of Jumuah Prayer in the current circumstances is a unanimous opinion of all four Schools of Thought. To us, followers of Hanafi School, the reason for invalidity is the absence of Idhn Aamm, i.e. local healthy, able Muslims are being prevented from participating. Whereas, according to other three great Imams \u2013 Imam Malik, Imam Shafiyi and Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal \u2013 it is a condition for Jumuah congregation that there should be at least 12 or 40 people. This condition is also absent in the current circumstances, as no more than five to six people attend congregation.<\/p>\n

(3) However, the opinion of Ahl-e-Hadith and Salafis is different; because, they think that Jumuah is not different from any other Salah. Therefore, they perform Jumuah with two people only, whatever is the circumstance. (We do not consider this opinion to be valid as the majority of Muaddith and Fuqaha\u2019s opinion is opposite to that.) Only Allah Almighty truly knows.<\/p>\n
